Let’s talk about the wedding! We arrived a couple days before the wedding so we could spend time exploring and to help where needed. We volunteered to pick up the cake and cupcakes which meant a trip over to League City area. Pick up wasn’t until late afternoon which meant we had a lot of time to kill. After a little breakfast we grabbed our coats and off we went.
I took my husband over to Carter’s Country there in Spring. I had not been to this location, so it was going to be something new for both of us. If you like to shoot or hunt, this is a must stop in the Houston area. The Spring location has a shooting range! Absolutely gorgeous location and as always Carter’s Country doesn’t disappoint. Luckily, we only left there with a new pair of boots for my husband. But I know he had his eye on a few new things. Christmas present ideas already for him. Next, we headed towards Kemah. We stopped at Marburger’s Sporting Goods in Seabrook. They have been around for a very long time and have a great selection for hunting and fishing. My husband enjoyed reminiscing about fishing in Texas.
Next it was to Kemah Boardwalk for lunch at Landry’s Seafood. Love the view of the water, even if it is a dreary winter day. Lunch was great as usual at Landry’s. A nice cup of gumbo helped to warm me up before exploring the boardwalk.
We walked around and finally stopped at Bayside Grille for dessert. Now this is a must for me. I don’t care how full I am, I will always have room for beignets! We sat down with coffee and an order of beignets. While my husband caught up on work, I worked on devouring a couple of these warm pillows of heavenly goodness. Bayside Grille makes them fresh right there where you can see them. Some people add honey, but I just love the powdered sugar. A good cup of coffee and a beignet and I am set folks! We walked off my beignet high as we continued to explore the boardwalk. We watch a few people ride some rides, but the dreary cold weather kept most people away. After a few more shopping stops we headed over the Cavendar’s.
Woo hoo, it was finally time to pickup the cupcakes and cake. Craved Creations Bakery in League City is a tiny little shop. But oh, what an incredible place! We laid down the seats in my Explorer and loaded over 200 cupcakes in it. I decided I better carry the cake on my lap. My husband carefully drove us back to the hotel so we could unload our bounty and grab some dinner. How exciting! One more day y’all and wedding time!
Y’all, I’ve had the blahs since we got back from Texas. It was an amazing wedding and we had a great time in Texas. But my heart just hasn’t been into it lately. ‘It’ means anything. We had such a busy year last year as you well know. And I was excited to share about the wedding when we got back in January. I sat down at the keyboard and nothing. I struggled for the words and images to share with you. Exhausted both mentally and physically, I sat day after day at my keyboard and wrote, deleted it, wrote again, deleted it and on and on. I haven’t even been to Disney in months!!! For those of you that know we well, I love going and getting my exercise walking around the different parks. And nope, haven’t been. Don’t even know the when was the last time I went!
I sat in my office and was overwhelmed with the chaos. Uninspired to do anything. Slowly I started rearranging it. Little by little cleaning and reorganizing it until finally I felt that I could stand to be in it. I took a long look at my house and felt the same thing. The blahs were overwhelming me. So, I started to make a list of what I wanted to change around me. I decided to start in the man cave. When we added on to it a few years ago we had a huge closet built for storage. It has been driving me crazy (and my husband) that we had just threw up some shelves to hold bins and not really organized it. I took a trip over to the Container Store and had them work me up a design for it. With a couple tweaks from my husband, I placed the order and patiently waited for it to arrive. When my wonderful husband is going to have time to install it, I don’t know.
You see, there is this snowball/domino effect happening now. While I was working on my glass projects last year, I was frustrated that I didn’t have the room or organization that I needed. Those shelves that are in the closet now, I need in the garage to organize my stuff out there. I can’t start working in the garage until we do that closet. And I can’t do the closet until my busy husband can put up the new shelving system picked up yesterday. Oh, and did I mention how busy my husband is right now?!
I haven’t even finished my guest room yet. At least that is painted but I need to rearrange it so that it is easier for guests to sleep in there. You would think with all of this I would be excited and posting the progress. What progress? Blahs remember? I am hoping that if I just keep moving forward, I will get through this. I wish I could blame it on the winter blues but this Florida folks. Blue skies and high 80s is all I see here. Oh, and my sister, she has the winter blues there is Texas. Marie is cold, tired and already has that little ranch house torn up and being remodeled by George. David has been working in her backyard with the hundreds of bulbs that were planted and the irrigation system going in. Her orchard is planted. Winter blahs have us both in it’s grasp. Not fun, not fun at all.
I swear I really am working. Amber and Chris’s wedding is coming up and I am working my fingers to the bone finishing up their cake stands. I am nervous and excited because this has been one crazy project. I will tell y’all about that later.
My office looks like a hurricane hit it again. I am learning that is just the way I work. But still y’all, it drives me crazy. Nope, not gonna share photos of it with you right now but I am sitting in the middle of this mess trying to write. Disturbing!
It’s the middle of January and this year is already flying by. I am working on my list of trips I will be taking this year. After the wedding my next big thing is going to the spring Antique Week in Texas with Marie and our spouses. It will be the guys first time going. The following weekend we have a baby shower to do so I will be staying another week with Marie. Then in May we have a Mother’s Day luncheon, our son Nick graduates from college and hopefully, we will be back in Tennessee to our friend Mike’s place for a friendly gathering and cattle corralling. That will get me through May for my trips this year. Of course, that is all subject to additions and changes but so far so good.
Today I am adding the finishing touches to my projects. I can’t wait to share the beautiful event with y’all. It’s so exciting!!!!
I hope everyone had a happy holiday season. I am already working on a few projects. We have a quite a few things happen in January. Marie is going to be a grandma! We have a few parties Marie wants to do this year, so we are starting the plans for those. Amber and Chris get married in a few weeks and you will see the cake stands I have been working on.
During our Christmas visit we were able to squeeze in a little shopping. Just wait until you see what I am making! I picked up a lot of new goodies and so did Marie. From Fort Worth to Mineral Wells, we hit the best places and came home with so many new ideas. Hang tight y’all, we have a lot going on to share with you this year. I am so excited!!!
I am always interested to see how people plan the new year. Some I know make resolutions (I don’t). I am already deep in the planning stages for what I know I am doing this year. I am sure Marie will throw me a couple more projects along the way. But I am one of those that likes it all planned out to some extent. I don’t like deadlines or to be rushed. When it comes my art, nope, can’t do those hard deadlines. I must feel it people (I am laughing so hard right now at that)!
So, do y’all stock up on your next year Christmas craft supplies after the holidays? I did it before because I was afraid things would not be there after Christmas. So glad I did because a lot of things were gone! I have yellow stickies on things, so I can remember why I bought them and the ideas. Marie and I were both trying to get last-minute decorating pieces and found the stores were out way before Christmas was even here. Sad but also good for those of us who are already working on the next seasons ideas.
Well folks, hang tight and get ready for what we will be sharing next. Marie is hunkered down on the ranch trying to keep warm. It’s a little cold there in Weatherford Texas. I am sitting here in a sundress and barefoot. It is a lovely 85 degrees here in Saint Cloud. I have tomatoes ripening on the vine and new blooms on my little lemon trees already! I bet Marie is happy she had that green house built last year.
Happy New Year Y’all!!!
Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!
Thanksgiving has come and gone. It was a nice small celebration this year at Marie’s house. My house is ready for Christmas. I have a tree in the man-cave that is a little outdoorsy and my Texas tree in the dining room. I am starting a new tree in our bedroom that consists of ornaments that represent our childhoods. It’s a little bare but I am excited to collect ornaments for it. It should be fun! We have few gifts left to get and I am back in my office working on my next project.
Amber and Chris’s wedding is coming up in January and I am working out cupcake stand designs for 250 cupcakes. I am excited to do this for them. It is something new for me and I can’t wait to share the finished project when I am done. That reminds me, I still haven’t found a dress for the wedding!
My office is piled high with new supplies and ideas I have had over the past few months. I kind of organized it when I got back after Ashley and Joshua’s wedding. Now it is a mess. I had picked up some Alexander Henry fabric there at Gibson’s in Weatherford, so I want to make myself a couple of skirts for the holidays. I am in love with his fabric designs. They are kind of a retro in style and have a little funk to them. If you are looking for something a little different, check out his fabrics.
I spend part of my time in the house and part in the garage working with glass. Right now, I am working on adhesives for the glass. You have your usual came or foil methods for stained glass, but I am looking for something stronger and that will set up quickly. A lot of research is being done right now. You have glass adhesive that I use in small projects and jewelry. But I need stronger! Local glass company suggested that I use UV adhesive. I will be ordering that next and practice on a few pieces.
In the house I go from working with vinyl on my Silhouette to fabric in my guest room. Marie is going to be a grandmother in January and there are few projects for the baby I want to do. I also have ornament ideas and a pile of wood plates, trays and boards on my floor. And somewhere on my work table is antique lace that is over 100 years old. Not to mention, I have a pile of pillow forms in my guest room too that need to be done. Oh, and the glass that is on my other table and in my garage and the windows I got from Marie.
As soon as I can post what has been done I will. But I don’t want to spoil any presents for anyone before Christmas. What projects do y’all have going on right now?
Wedding day!!! Are you ready to see more pictures of Ashley and Joshua’s big day? Where do I start?!
