Let’s Do It!

Last couple of months have been busy since I returned from Texas. Our garden has grown, produced and keeping me stocked with goodies. You just can’t beat fresh food. I was able to freeze homemade marinara sauce and tomatoes. I am not a flower person, but I added a rose bush and a couple hibiscus plants to my collection. Now we are ready to sit down and plan out our fall planting. We will be moving our garden and planning some landscaping we need to do as well.

We just finished going through all the family history boxes and are starting the reorganization. It took some time to get started. But we did it! Now I can concentrate on proper storage and organizing it for future generations. Let’s just say I will be glued to the scanner for a while. We are finally going to step into doing our family genealogy. Added that to our list of projects this year.

We are still working on my glass storage and organizing the garage. Unfortunately, that is where all the storage containers from the family history went. Now I need to get them in the attic so that I can get more room in the garage. I am excited about having an organized area to do my work. A new work bench is needed and hoping for a few new toys this year to add to my arsenal. There are so many things I wanna do!

I spent the weekend working on stripping electrical wiring for the copper. Marie so graciously let me have it from the little ranch house renovations they have going on. It ain’t easy but worth it. I use so much copper in my projects and you can’t beat ‘free’ supplies. A little elbow grease and I now have a nice supply of copper wiring. A little advice on copper wiring, it will tarnish. I only stripped the outer casing on the wiring. I will strip the inner casing when I know I will need it. Saves me from having to clean the wiring again before I use it.

Today I am finally sitting down and make a list of projects I want to do. I am a list person. I even have a list of lists on my phone with a reminder for me to check them. You laugh, but it helps. Oh, and I love reminders. I just must remember not to cancel them until I get things done. But back to my list making today. I am starting on my project list. Some are things people have asked me to do, some will be things I want to do for myself, and some will be for Christmas. So, I will do a little research, get the plans ready, check my supplies and start planning my schedule to get things done. Are you ready to see what I will be doing? Me too! Now the fun begins!

One More Time

Just when my husband thought it was safe to relax, I let him know that the garage was next on my list. I had piled all the bins that I emptied from the closet to the garage. It was bad enough already from all the glass work I did last year. I had been waiting for the shelving unites from the closet to use in the garage. I need to start organizing my glass inventory.

What A Mess

No complaints from the hubby. All he askes is that I leave him a 4th of the garage for his work and workout area. So, we rolled our sleeves up and started working on the garage. He did have to adjust some shelves to hold glass when it comes in.

Sweet! I have a workbench

Wow, I have a work bench now. I have a habit of piling things on it when I am in a hurry. I had all my Dremel stuff on the bench as well as little things that needed to be fixed.

Glass everywhere

I separated out the glass into two areas. I think this will work better and keep people from being cut on the glass sheets. Still need to make dividers for the big pieces of glass when they come.

Now that looks better

I have a couple wood pieces I need to decide if I am going to fix or get rid of them.  There are also a few chairs I need to donate. But the bins will have to stay in the garage until we figure out the rest of the mancave closet. I still have a few things I need to get for my work. I will worry about where they will go when the time comes. After a long day of work, we can now walk in the garage.

Between Holidays

Thanksgiving has come and gone. It was a nice small celebration this year at Marie’s house. My house is ready for Christmas. I have a tree in the man-cave that is a little outdoorsy and my Texas tree in the dining room. I am starting a new tree in our bedroom that consists of ornaments that represent our childhoods. It’s a little bare but I am excited to collect ornaments for it. It should be fun! We have few gifts left to get and I am back in my office working on my next project.

Amber and Chris’s wedding is coming up in January and I am working out cupcake stand designs for 250 cupcakes. I am excited to do this for them. It is something new for me and I can’t wait to share the finished project when I am done. That reminds me, I still haven’t found a dress for the wedding!

My office is piled high with new supplies and ideas I have had over the past few months. I kind of organized it when I got back after Ashley and Joshua’s wedding. Now it is a mess. I had picked up some Alexander Henry fabric there at Gibson’s in Weatherford, so I want to make myself a couple of skirts for the holidays. I am in love with his fabric designs. They are kind of a retro in style and have a little funk to them. If you are looking for something a little different, check out his fabrics.

I spend part of my time in the house and part in the garage working with glass. Right now, I am working on adhesives for the glass. You have your usual came or foil methods for stained glass, but I am looking for something stronger and that will set up quickly. A lot of research is being done right now. You have glass adhesive that I use in small projects and jewelry. But I need stronger! Local glass company suggested that I use UV adhesive. I will be ordering that next and practice on a few pieces.

Craft Room Dec 2018
In the house I go from working with vinyl on my Silhouette to fabric in my guest room. Marie is going to be a grandmother in January and there are few projects for the baby I want to do. I also have ornament ideas and a pile of wood plates, trays and boards on my floor. And somewhere on my work table is antique lace that is over 100 years old. Not to mention, I have a pile of pillow forms in my guest room too that need to be done. Oh, and the glass that is on my other table and in my garage and the windows I got from Marie.

As soon as I can post what has been done I will. But I don’t want to spoil any presents for anyone before Christmas. What projects do y’all have going on right now?
